About the Project

SSFM served as prime consultant responsible for project management, engineering and trenchless pipeline design for a 2.4 mile long sewer outfall for the Navy’s Pearl Harbor Public Work Center, Fort Kamehameha Wastewater Treatment Plant. The pipeline includes a 656 foot long multiport diffuser at a depth of 150 feet

The location is an environmentally sensitive shoreline area and required an Environmental Impact Statement, developed in accordance with the National Environmental Protection Act.

We conducted 11 separate studies and investigations including feasibility for alternative effluent disposal methods; geotechnical evaluation; birds in the area, ocean activities; dredging turbidity; effluent plume modeling; water quality and marine community structure; biotic and biological assessments; and far field water quality studies.
