About the Project

SSFM partnered with the Surfrider Foundation and Hawaiʻi Sea Grant to convene the state's first coastal resilience working group for the North Shore of Oʻahu, bringing together community members, agencies, landowners, and subject matter experts to address worsening erosion and sea level rise. The team facilitated a series of collaborative meetings and produced a white paper outlining policy recommendations that informed 2023 legislation and shaped updates to the North Shore Sustainable Communities Plan, earning recognition from the American Planning Association Hawaiʻi Chapter for Community-Based Planning.
