Mauna Lahilahi Beach Park Rock Revetment

Wainae, Hawaii

CLIENT

City & County of Honolulu, Department of Design and Construction, Facilities Division

About the Project

This rock revetment project was designed to protect the beach from further erosion and preserve any subsurface historic properties that may be present. The project removed temporary shoreline sandbag and rock barriers and installed a 350’ rock revetment with two layers of armor and bedding stone and a fabric layer to contain the sand and crushed rock fill. Because the construction occurred at the shorelineand at a culturally sensitive location, there were multiple Federal, State and County agencies involved in the administration of this work.
