About the Project

Undertaken by the City and County of Honolulu to reduce the pollutants that enter the MS4 storm sewer system, the project includes the installation of 117 automatic retractable screens, hydrodynamic separator, drain manholes, concrete channel reconstruction, clearing and grubbing, grading and drainage, landscaping, irrigation system, grouted rubble paving, chain link fence and gates, and reconstruction of existing sidewalk, curbs and gutter in the vicinity of Kamilo Iki Community Park in Hawaii Kai.

The engineering enhancements significantly reduce discharges into the MS4. The improvements have also contributed to the beautification of the public park.
