About the Project

SSFM worked with the County of Kauaʻi to develop development standards and review criteria for projects within the new Special Treatment–Coastal Edge zoning district, helping the County integrate sea level rise projections into land use decision-making. SSFM analyzed coastal hazards using GIS-based sea level rise models and prepared recommendations that guided the County's first-in-the-state ordinance regulating future development in vulnerable shoreline areas.
