About the Project

Structural engineering services for the design of Kauai’s main facility emergency operations center includes the 2-story 70,000 sq. ft. main police station building, the 1-story 9,300 sq. ft. office of prosecuting attorney building and a 1-story 5,300 sq. ft. storage building as well as an antenna farm and cooling tower/mechanical area.

Structural framing consists of concrete topping over metal decking, supported by structural steel beams and columns. The roof is constructed of pre-engineered light gauge metal trusses. The design team worked closely with the steel fabricator to optimize the structural steel framing.

This was a design/build project with Shioi Construction Co. as the design/builder.
