Kahului International Airport, Taxiway Intersection Reconstruction
Kahului, Hawaii
CLIENT
State of Hawaii, Department of Transportation, Airports Division
About the Project
The intersection of taxiways A and C are the most heavily trafficked at Kahului Airport on Maui. Despite numerous repairs, its asphalt paving was continuously failing due to subgrade issues. Reconstructing the intersection using PCC concrete pavement to bridge the failing subgrade began by creating a temporary bypass taxiway. Replacing the asphalt pavement included demolition, grading, asphalt patching, shoulder paving, pavement markings, airfield lighting and signage.
