About the Project
A magnitude 8.0 earthquake and subsequent tsunami devastated portions of Samoa and American Samoa in September 2009. Wide spread damage and at least 125 deaths resulted from the tsunami. The main post office suffered water intrusion and ceiling damage. A satellite post office in Leone was destroyed by the tsunami and could not be reoccupied. SSFM’s assessed the damage at the Fagatoga main post office to determine its structural safety for resumption of operations.
