Samkoo Kapiolani Residences

The Samkoo Pacific condominium project on Kapiolani Boulevard consists of two lots developed as a high-rise central business mixed use development. SSFM provided civil engineering services for schematic design and design development of the ground level area and driveway, grading, utilities including wastewater, domestic/fire water and drainage design to achieve LID requirements, and worked with City agencies to obtain necessary construction permit approvals.

Avoiding the relocation of unforeseen utilities beneath the entry/exit driveway that would have impacted the construction schedule, required a special reinforced driveway. Civil approvals were dependent on City reviews. The team was able to obtain all necessary permit approvals without affecting the schedule. Value engineering solutions during construction also solved other unanticipated conditions and facilitated approvals. The design process demanded close coordination of multiple disciplines and included preparation of an erosion control report, drainage report and calculations, and construction plan documents necessary for approval by City and County of Honolulu.
