Regimental Consolidated Communications/Electrical Facility

This new facility consolidates the 3rd Marine Regiment and 1st Battalion, 12th Marines, communications, electrical, and mechanical shops at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, Kaneohe.
The 2-story building contains communications, electrical and mechanical shops. Activities at the facility include issuance of communications gear, support and repair of communications equipment, storage of critical items, maintenance of vehicle communications equipment, and administrative functions with allowances for shops, equipment laydown areas, vehicle maintenance bays, storage, offices, an electronic key management system secured room/vault, telecommunications infrastructure with telecommunications maintenance vaults, Open Storage Secret spaces, conference and multi-purpose rooms, locker and shower rooms, break room, restrooms, two two-stop passenger/freight combination elevators, and other supporting spaces. Information systems in the facility include provision for secret internet protocol router network public address systems, and intrusion detection system.

The project includes Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection features and complies with physical security mitigation in accordance with DoD Minimum Anti-Terrorism Standards for buildings. Also included is a radon mitigation system and emergency generator. An adjacent 6-story concrete parking structure on pile foundations with 430 POV parking stalls accommodates surface spaces being displaced by the Comm/Elec facility.
SSFM provided structural engineering and civil engineering for the entire complex.
