Low Impact Development

Low Impact Development

SSFM recognizes the need to move toward sustainable site design and infrastructure to better manage stormwater in the face of the changing climate. Engineering and Construction Management staff at SSFM have pursued certification through the National Green Infrastructure Certification Program and the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure’s Envision program in order to offer the best available solutions to our clients.

On projects throughout Hawaii, SSFM is addressing stormwater management through adopting low impact development (LID) and green infrastructure practices that minimize impervious surfaces in site design; strategies to infiltrate, evaporate, or reuse rainwater; and solutions for infiltration, detention and storage of stormwater.
