Keehi Small Boat Harbor, Wastewater Pump Station and Force Main

Federal grants allowed improving the water quality in the Keehi Small Boat Harbor by removing the existing seepage pit disposal system and connecting to the municipal sewage collection and treatment system. The project involved replacement of existing wastewater collection and disposal system with a new wastewater pump station and force main beneath the Kalihi Channel.

The project consisted of approximately 1975 feet of gravity and force main sewer piping, including 1150 feet of horizontal directional drill force main beneath the Kalihi Channel. It also replaced the existing boating pump-out facility with increased storage capacity in new holding tanks.

SSFM’s scope included preparation of construction drawings, specifications, estimates of probable construction costs, and construction administration. It also entailed preparation of an Environmental Assessment and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Permit, Conservation District Use Permit, Shoreline Setback Variance, Special Management Area Permit, UIC Closure Permit, and NPDES Form C and Form G permits.
