Honolulu Int. Airport Concourse Extension at Inter-Island Terminal

The new Mauka Concourse at Honolulu International Airport is a centerpiece of the state’s current $2.3 billion airport modernization program. Bringing that new concourse online will address the need for additional gate capacity during peak hours and the need for new gates capable of handling larger widebody aircraft. Construction of the new Mauka Concourse is scheduled to begin in 2016. It will be the first major concourse expansion at Honolulu International Airport in almost 20 years.

A prominent visual element in the new concourse will be steel braced frame system designed by SSFM’s structural engineers. That striking, yet cost-effective design solution is the result of close collaboration between SSFM and the architect, KYA Design Group.
