Conference & Technology Learning Center (CTLC) Project
The Daniel Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies located at the entry to Waikiki along Kalakaua Boulevard, added a new Conference & Technology Learning Center to their campus. The 10,000 sq.ft. low-rise concrete building of reinforced masonry and structural steel is designed and constructed to provide Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection and physical security measures that meet the Department of Defense Anti-Terrorism Standards.
SSFM provided structural engineering and civil engineering services. The building encompasses a library, computer lab, conference room, pre-function room and restrooms. A native botanical garden enhances arrival to Waikiki along Kalakaua Boulevard.

Services included relocation of existing sewer, water and chilled water lines and installation of sewer and water laterals for an exterior water feature. Electrical and civil work included a new transformer, relocation of electrical and telephone handholes and site lighting, relocation of existing trees, redesign of landscape features, and improving the sub-surface drainage between the campus’s buildings. Structural work included a structural steel roof supported by reinforced CMU walls founded on a deep pile foundation system.
