Team SSFM joins the American Heart Association’s 2021 Heart Challenge

Team SSFM joined more than a million Heart Walk Heroes across the county for the 2021 American Heart Association Heart Challenge. The traditional walk day was replaced this year with the Move More Activity Challenge which tracked each team’s total physical activity over 30 days. SSFM’s 18 participants logged 16,389 minutes of activity, ranking us third among all of Hawaii’s teams. More importantly, we raised almost $8,000, the third most of any Hawaiian team, for lifesaving research, education and awareness of heart disease and its prevention. “I couldn’t be prouder of the SSFM team and their accomplishments in putting Team SSFM in the top echelon of all Hawaiian companies,” said Scott Hayashi, co-team leader and an American Heart Association Executive with Heart.

“Not only did SSFM’s team make a meaningful contribution to the fund raising program but we also expanded our understanding of the dangers of heart disease and the science of living a longer and healthier life,” explains Scott. “Through SSFM’s engagement in the Move More Challenge we’ve embraced moving more and eating healthier, reducing our blood pressure and losing weight. Inspired by the selfless attitude of Team SSFM in a stand against America’s No. 1 killer, I hope we can all continue our new found healthier lifestyle.”

SSFM team members monitored their activities which included hiking, swimming, karate, jogging, running, shopping, sprint interval training, elliptical, walking, stationary biking, and surfing.
