Various Guardrail and Shoulder Improvements

Bringing a number Hawaii’s highways and roads into compliance with current State and Federal safety standards required analyzing the guardrail end treatments and shoulders for the entire mainline portion of each route.

SSFM provided civil engineering services for the segments that required upgrading including plans, specifications, and estimates for the following roadways:

• Interstate Route H-2, Interchanges between H-1 at Waiawa Interchange to Wilikina Drive
• Nimitz Highway, H-I Pearl Harbor and Hickam AFB Main Gate
• Wilikina Drive, Kamehameha Highway to Schofield Barracks McNair Gate
• Kamehameha Highway, Wheeler AAF to Wilikina Drive
• Kamehameha Highway, H-I at Pearl Harbor Interchange to Pearl Harbor Halawa Gate
• Puuloa Road and Jarrett White Road, H-201 at Puuloa Interchange to Triple Hospital
• Middle Street, H-I at Kahauiki Interchange to Fort Shafter
• Kunia Road, H-l to Wilikina Drive
• Nimitz Highway and Ala Moana Boulevard, Middle Street to Kalakaua Avenue
• Kalanianaole Highway, H-l at West Hind Drive to Keahole Street
• Pali Highway and Kalanianaole Highway, Vineyard Boulevard to Kailua Road
• Farrington Highway, H-l at Palailai Interchange to Kaena Point State Park
• Kahekili Highway and Kamehameha Highway, Likelike Highway to Weed Circle.
