Punahou School – Omidyar K-1 Neighborhood Project

Panahou School was founded in 1841 and has a rich history, a wide variety of programs and many notable alumni, including President Barack Obama. Punahou has evolved over time to become the largest independent school in the United Sates. It also has an inordinate commitment to the environment and is ranked as the “greenest” school in America. With a LEED Platinum certification the new Omidyar K-1 Neighborhood builds on this ethic. It includes eight buildings including two 1000 square foot classrooms. The K-1 Neighborhood was certified LEED Platinum and houses 300 students. SSFM provided structural engineering services for this kindergarten and first-grade teaching complex. Design considerations included the preservation of historical Wilcox Hall.
